Inspired by researching American Type Foundries 30 Point Yonkers Metal Type from 1892, Montankers breathes new life into the historic typeface and is refined for digital purposes. blackletter typefaces into the 21st century. However, the roots of blackletter stem back to an era before pixels and laser jet printers. Montankers is a reimagined edition of the American Type Foundry’s Yonkers typeface originally casted for Letterpress printing. The original Yonkers Typefaces is an American interpretation of a German Schwabacher typefaces that was an evolution of Gothic Textualis based off of Humanist typography from 15th Century Italy.
